Highly unusual hand made woodblock print by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka (1839-1892). "Nemusou - Fuzoku 32 sou no uchi" ( Looks Sleepy - Customs and manners 32 aspects) this is recarved edition. First printed Meiji 21nen (1888) by Kamekichi Tsunashima. Signed on the left of image. This elegant larger recarved edition by Soudosha Publishers from a limited edition series of only 980 sheets and published on October 1, 1977. The paper measures about 11 inches by 16 inches, please see pictures. Still tipped to original presentation folder. Pristine Condition. Flawless, bright colors with fill margins. Typical very faint ink smudge on the margins which will be easily mat out. Very vivid colors. Beautifully embossed. This print shows typical prostitute of Meiji era.

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi(1839-1892) is very famous Ukiyo-e artist. In 1850, when he was 11 years old, Yoshitoshi was apprenticed to Utagawa Kuniyoshi, one of great masters of the Japanese woodblock print.
Yoshitoshi created modern ukiyo-e depicting warriors, actors and Bijin.
