"Hokkaido Onuma Koen" (Onuma Park, Hokkaido) by Kawase Hasui (1883 - 1957).  Dated Showa 9 (1934). Original first edition with the appropriate Watanabe "C" seal in right margin. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "sui" in lower left of image. Left margin is title in Japanese and in lower left margin is date "Showa 9  nen saku" (Printed 1934). From the series, "Nihon Fukeishu Higashi Nihon Hen" (Scenic Views of Japan's Eastern Provinces). Majestic Mt. Komagatake as seen across Lake Onuma from Onuma Park. 

This is NOT a reprint or a later edition. Watanabe "C" seal is used  from 1929 to 1942. The seal is appropriate seal for First Edition this print. The "C" seal is also known as the "sausage seal". This print is fairly scarce and difficult to obtain.

Extremely good condition for it's age. Some slight staining on the verso does not even show through this thick paper when held up to the light. Very tiny thin spot in the paper lower left at the outer edge of the margin. Beautiful "bokashi" shading to the sky, mountain and water. Skillful realistic reflection on the water's surface. Great colors and finely carved. A great example of Hausi's early work. Please see pictures. Paper size is 10 and 3/8 inches wide by 15 and 1/4 inches tall.
