"Inokashira no Haru no Yoru" (Spring Night at Inokashira) by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957). Truly beautiful "bokashi" (gradation of colors) shading. First printed 1931; this is a later printing from original blocks by the original publisher. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "sui". Pristine condition, never framed and full margins. Very faint tiny ink smudge on the right and bottom margin which is very common. Published by Watanabe with 7 mm and Watanabe "Heisei" Seal. Paper size is 10 and 1/2 inches by 15 and 5/8 inches. Left margin reads title "Inokashira no Haru no Yoru" (Spring Night at Inokashira) and date "Showa 6 nen 4 gatsu saku" (Printed April 1931). A true classic Hasui print of the highest order. Very Japanese mood. Old master quality. Truly beautiful and romantic spring night scene.
