"Arakawa no Tsuki" (Full Moon at Arakawa River) by Kawase Hasui
(1883 - 1957). This print was first published in 1929. This is a
later edition printed from original blocks by the original publisher. The
7 mm Watanabe seal is located near left edge of image (nearly impossible
to see) and red "Heisei" seal in right margin. Signed Hasui
with red artist seal "Sui" in lower right of image. Lower left
margin is title in Japanese and date "Showa 4 nen saku" (Printed
1929). Pristine condition, never framed and full margins. Very tiny
ink smudge on the right margin. Paper size is 10 and 3/8 inches wide by
15 and 1/2 inches tall. One of Hasui's best moonlight prints with
masterful shading and flawless details. Very peaceful Japanese scene. |
