$250

"Oike no Shouka"(A Merchant House at Oike) by Katsuyuki Nishijima. Wooden sign reads "Shimadai" which is name of this famous Japanese Sake store in Oike dori street, Kyoto. From our own private collection comes this very early work, We believe never before offered to outside Japan. Printed Ca: 1973. Long out of print. Excellent condition for it's age. Never framed. Typical a few ink smudge on the margin and natural paper crease on the top margin which will be easily mat out. Please see the pictures. Hand signed in pencil, hand titled in Japanese in the bottom margin, and hand numbered limited edition  241/500 by the artist. With artist official red seal. Large size: 18 and 1/4 inches and 13 and 3/8 inches. Please note size is a little larger that his later prints. Nishijima started offering prints in 1972; this is the 12th subject he produced. Sorry but we have only this one rare copy to offer.

Very bold and impressive. When we compare these Nishijima's early work and present work,  you can see Nishijima's skill progresses obviously. For collectors this is very interesting. Now almost impossible to find his old prints.
