"Shirakawago no Yanami"(Scenery of Roofs of Shirakawago) by Katsuyki Nishijima. Printed ca:2006. These greens are typical Nishijima's green. Very beautiful. Pristine condition, never framed. Hand signed in pencil, hand titled in Japanese in the bottom margin, and hand numbered limited edition 24/500 by the artist. Artist seal: (shima). Size: Paper width is 17 and 1/4 inches and height is 12 and 1/2 inches. Wonderful details with strong colors. Excellent shading, bold colors and strong ink bleed through. This is genuine handmade Japanese woodblock limited edition print by Katsuyuki Nishijima who was born 1945 in Yamaguchi, Japan. Please hear wonderful Japan.

 
Shirakawa Village is located in the northwestern part of Gifu Pref. and is next to Gokayama Village in Toyama pref., and west of the village are the Hakusan Mountains which border Ishikawa Pref. and Gifu Pref.. It is a typical mountain village that is surrounded by mountains. Mountains and forests account for 96% of the area and the remaining 0.4% is cultivated land..

Village in Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, were listed as sites of The World Heritage at the 19th UNESCO board held in Berlin, Germany on December, 1995, under Japan's requests.
It is the 6th World Heritage in Japan after Himeji Castle and Shirakami Mountains, and there preservation over hundreds of years has been recognized worldwide. It will be preserved as a Heritage shared by the human race.
