"Fushimi no Funayado" (An inn at Fushimi) by Katsuyuki Nishijima.
This was a ship inn "TERADAYA" for the transfer of the ship of
Yodogawa river of Osaka and Kyoto in those days. By the late Tokugawa period,
it is known as an usual lodging of Ryoma Sakamoto. "Teradaya"stays
as a hotel still now. Paper lantern says "Teradaya" (name), wooden
sign says " Hatago"(An inn with meals). From my own private collection
comes this very early work, We believe never before offered to outside
Japan. Ca: 1973. Pristine condition, never framed. Hand signed in pencil,
hand titled in Japanese in the bottom margin, and hand numbered limited
edition 451/500 by the artist. With artist official red seal. Now almost
impossible to find his old prints.Large size: Width is 18 and 1/4 inches
and height is 13 and 1/2 inches. Please note size is a little larger that
his later prints. Nishijima started offering prints in 1972; this is the
29th subject he produced. Sorry but we have only this one rare copy to
offer.
