Extremely rare print "Tairyo Bune" (Fishing Boat) by Junichiro Sekino (1907-1980). Sheet number 16/128 and "Jun Sekino" signature on the bottom margin. Artist red seal "Jun" on the lower right corner of image. Printed ca 1980. Printed on special watermarked paper, "Jun. Sekino". Paper size 21 and 5/8 by 16 and 3/4 inches. Very large size print. Very good condition for it's age. Strong colors. Slight mat burn which will be easily mat out. Paper tape still remains on verso as shown.

This fishing boat is returning to their village with many fish. They have many fish flags. The flag says "Tairyo" (means a big catch or a large haul). Many seagulls are flying around the boat, fisher men look exhausted but happy with their boat riding low in the water full of their catch. This print shows peaceful moment after hard fishing at far offshore as they return home.

The fishing boats below have many Fishing flags (called Tairyo bata). In Japan when the fishing boat return with many fish, they raise them to inform others, "We got many fish today". The fishing flags normally are very bright colors and dynamic design and very visible in ocean and from land.
