"Haori"(Kimono Jacket) this extremely rare woodblock by Tatsumi Shimura (1907-1980). Limited Edition, "H.C" from only a very few know to ever exist.  "H.C" (hors commerce)  means an article not for sale in French. Usually refers to print identical to the edition print intended to be used as samples to show to dealers and galleries. Carver; Kentaro Maeda, Printer; Ritsuzo Sato, and Publisher; Yuyudo. Carver name and printer name on the lower right margin and publisher seal on the lower left margin. Artist signature and personal seal located in lower right of image. Large red "Tatsumi Kenin" seal in lower margin reads, "Tatsumi seal of approval". Size is large: paper size is 18 and 7/8 inches by 16 and 3/8 inches. Colors are vivid and vibrant and in layers. Lightly embossed. Absolutely stunning original hand Japanese made woodblock print. Outstanding condition may have been framed once. Only very faint torning on the corner in verso. Rarely do we find these old prints from this series in this nearly perfect condition.
